Brentwood's Elf Trail Posted On 03 December 2021

The perfect outdoor Christmas Activity

As the crisp, wintery days lead us up to Christmas, what better way to harness the magic of the season that by spending some time in the great outdoors? That hot chocolate and mince pie will taste all the more delicious after a stroll through the fresh air.

Brentwood's Naughty Elf trail invites children to track down the letter each elf is holding in various shops, before unscrambling them to find the secret code and win a bag of sweets. There are 12 to collect in Shenfield, 10 in Ingatestone and 14 in Brentwood.

Chair of Community and Health Committee, Cllr Cliff Poppy spoke to 'inyourarea' explaining: “There is so much going on for Christmas across the borough this year and there is something for everyone from entertainment for the children to late-night shopping for those last-minute gifts. The Naughty Elf trail promises to be fun with families having the option to do a single trail in Shenfield, Ingatestone or Brentwood or for those who love Elf on the Shelf why not do all three. All of this would not be possible without the Welcome Back Fund with the Brentwood Business Partnership sponsored by Beresfords and Tees and all our tree and event sponsors. We are fortunate in Brentwood to have so much on offer so that this year we can all get out and about and enjoy the best of the borough.”

Also on the 4th December is Christmas in Shenfield which will include free rides, hot chestnuts, craft sessions, face painting, walkabout acts and entertainment. Whilst you're out and about, you could check out the Crown Street Market and Mrs Claus’s Grotto at Chicken and Frog Bookshop (no need to book, free gifts for all children whilst stocks last) or Baytree Centre's magical Snow Globe. If you're waiting until Sunday 5th to explore the Elf trail, why not also visit the Festive Vegan Market on Brentwood High Street. You're certain to work up an appetite whilst hunting for those mischievous elves so why not treat yourself with a vegan treat afterwards?

So, what are you waiting for? Get out and about in Brentwood this weekend to explore all the festivities on offer!
