PM becomes a dad for sixth time Posted On 04 May 2020

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and partner Carrie Symonds have announced the name of their new-born son.

Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson was born on 29th April and he is only the third baby born to a serving prime minister in living memory.

The names are a tribute to both of their grandfathers as well as the two doctors who treated Boris Johnson when he was being treated in hospital with coronavirus just weeks before the birth.

Carrie thanked staff at University College London Hospital via her Instagram account, saying: “I couldn’t be happier. My heart is full.”

Their son shares his first name with the Prime Minister’s grandfather, and the first of his middle names, Lawrie, with Carrie’s grandfather. Wilfred’s additional middle name, Nicholas, is a tribute to the two doctors who treated Boris in hospital – Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart.
